Yuvraj Singh talks about his relationship with Virat Kohli: 'Don’t disturb him because he is busy'

Former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh feels that time has left an impact on his bonding with Virat Kohli. Both cricketers had shared the Indian dressing room till 2017. Two years later, Yuvraj wrapped up his decorated career, bidding adieu to international cricket. During a recent interaction on the TRS podcast, Yuvraj was asked about his current relationship with Kohli. In response, the ex-cricket acknowledged that Kohli is quite busy in his career nowadays so it is not possible for them to always stay in touch. “I don’t disturb him because he is busy. We knew the young Virat Kohli as Cheeku. Today’s Cheeku is Virat Kohli, so there is a big difference,” Yuvraj said. Yuvraj was, however, also all praise for Kohli, underlining how the star Indian batter had brought a fitness revolution to the national team during his captaincy period. Kohli had already become India’s Test captain in 2014 when Yuvraj was an active member of the team. Former India captain MS Dhoni also bestowed the white-ball captaincy upon Kohli in 2017. “We all wanted to become a fit team but when Kohli became the captain there was a big difference. He set a benchmark,” Yuvraj explained. During the conversation, Yuvraj further took a sarcastic dig at Kohli’s football skills, branding him as the Cristiano Ronaldo of cricket. Kohli is known to be a huge admirer of Ronaldo and proudly recognizes himself as a fan of the Portuguese superstar. According to Yuvraj, Kohli has certainly learned a lot from Ronaldo, who is known for pulling off his best in crunch situations. “I think Kohli is a very good footballer, but I have better skills. He is young so he can run around. He thinks he is Cristiano Ronaldo. Yes, he is Ronaldo in cricket in terms of fitness. Their mentality matches and the focus on the game as well,” Yuvraj said.
