From living in tents and selling panipuri in Mumbai to owning a posh apartment in Bandra Kurla Complex for Rs 5.38 crore, it has been a fairy-tale journey for Yashasvi Jaiswal. The young India batter is having a dream run in the ongoing Test series against England and according to media reports, Jaiswal recently purchased an under-construction apartment in Mumbai. A report published by Hindustan Times claimed that the property is 1,100 square feet and is located in Bandra (East). The article went on to claim that the property deal was registered on January 6, as per the documents.
Born in Uttar Pradesh, Jaiswal had to stay in a tent after he moved to Mumbai. Jaiswal shifted to Mumbai to pursue cricket at the age of 10. He even had to sell panipuri in Azad Maidan in Mumbai to make ends meet.
“During Ram Leela, I earned well. I prayed that my teammates would not come there for pani-puri. Sometimes they did and I would feel bad serving them,” previously Jaiswal had recalled during an interaction with The Indian Express.
“I would miss my family and would cry. It was not just being homesick but going to the toilet was a hindrance to sleep. There was no toilet at the maidan, and the one near Fashion Street that I used was closed at night,” Jaiswal added.
Jaiswal’s talent in the field of cricket was spotted by Jwala Singh, who used to run a cricket academy in Santacruz. Later, Jaiswal got a chance to play for the Mumbai U-19 squad as well. There was no looking back since then.
