Delhi Capitals have earned a direct qualification into the Women’s Premier League (WPL) final for a second season running after their lopsided seven-wicket victory over Gujarat Giants in Delhi on Wednesday. The defeat also ensures that the Giants finish at the bottom of the table for a second consecutive season despite skipper Beth Mooney’s availability for a second consecutive season.

Delhi now await the winner of the Eliminator, in which defending champions Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore square off on Friday. MI and RCB finished second and third respectively on the table, with Bangalore qualifying for the playoffs with a seven-wicket win against Mumbai following a clinical all-round display against Ellyse Perry (6/15 and 40 not out).

Who is the Purple Cap holder?

Delhi Capitals also lead the wicket-takers’ list with Marizanne Kapp at the top with 11 wickets to her name. While she is level with UP Warriorz’ Sophie Ecclestone and DC teammate Jess Jonassen in terms of wicket count, Kapp sits at the top due to a superior average (14.18) and economy (6.50).
