The Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024 season will kickoff on 23 February with a grand opening ceremony which will include performance from Bollywood actors Kartik Aaryan, Sidharth Malhotra and Tiger Shroff. The announcement has been made by the BCCI on X (formerly Twitter). The opening ceremony will begin at 6.30 PM on 23 February at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru.
The WPL 2024 opening ceremony will also be live streamed and broadcast live on JioCinema and Sports18.
WPL 2024: All You Need To Know
WPL 2024 will start with a match between last year finalists – Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals – at 7.30 PM IST at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. In 2023 final, Mumbai Indians defeated Delhi Capitals to clinch the inaugural season.
As the 2023 edition, WPL 2024 will also have five teams with each team playing each other twice. The points table leader at the end of the table will directly qualify for the final while the third and second placed sides will take on each other in an Eliminator to qualify for the final.
The WPL in its second season will be hosted in two cities. The inaugural 2023 season was hosted in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai. Bengaluru will host first 11 matches followed by remaining 11 matches including the knockouts at Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium.
