The Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024 player auction concluded in Mumbai on Saturday with uncapped Kashvee Gautam being the biggest buy. Kashvee Gautam, a 20-year-old all-rounder, was acquired by Gujarat Giants for a whopping amount of Rs 2 crore, thereby becoming the most expensive uncapped player in the history of WPL. Initially, it was RCB and Gujarat Giants who had entered the race for Vrinda, but then the Warriorz stepped in later to acquire the services of the 22-year-old. However, one notable player who did not find any takers was Chamari Athapaththu. The Sri Lankan had been in fine form in the Women’s Big Bash League, where she scored 552 runs from 15 matches for Sydney Thunder. However, she would end up being unsold in the initial round of auctions, and would not even feature in the accelerated auction later. Inoka Ranaweera, an uncapped Sri Lankan bowler, also went unsold.
