Virat Kohli’s immaculate energy was felt at the Eden Gardens Stadium in Kolkata when he danced to an Anushka Sharma song as India crushed South Africa by 243 runs. Being one of the most anticipated matches of the tournament, millions of fans tuned in to watch the epic clash between two titans of the game.

Little did they know, there was something a little extra awaiting them. In the second innings of the match, an ever-lively Kohli could be seen grooving to a song from a 2010 Bollywood film - Band Baaja Baaraat. The flick stars his wife Anushka Sharma and Bollywood heartthrob Ranveer Singh. During the game, Kohli was also spotted imitating Shah Rukh Khan’s signature move when the DJ played Chaleya from Jawan.

India continued their dominant run at the 2023 World Cup with an eighth win on the trot. Eden Gardens was host for the epic clash as India won the toss and decided to bat first. Skipper Rohit Sharma made an early impact, smashing 40 runs in only 24 balls before being dismissed by Kagiso Rabada.

It was at the crucial hour when Virat Kohli stepped up and smashed 101 runs, building a solid partnership with Shreyas Iyer to stabilise the innings for India. Kohli remained unbeaten in the innings, helping the Men in Blue to a total of 326 runs. In the second half, Ravindra Jadeja produced a bowling masterclass as he plucked five South African wickets. He was able to dismiss some of the top batters of their rival squad including the likes of Temba Bavuma, Heinrich Klaasen and David Miller. His heroics were enough to halt the African nation at a score of just 83 runs.

During the game, Virat Kohli went level with Indian icon Sachin Tendulkar’s all-time ODI century record of 49. Kohli came close to matching the record on multiple occasions at the tournament in their previous games but always fell short by a narrow margin.

Ahead of their match against South Africa, the Indian superstar had reached the 80-run mark a total of four times but his only century in this tournament came against Bangladesh. With one game remaining in the group stage and an assured spot in the semi-finals, Kohli will have at least two chances to surpass the one and only ‘Master Blaster’.
