Upheaval in Pakistan cricket is nothing new. Here's a list on constant controversy and changes

On Thursday, Rashid Latif took to micro-blogging platform ‘X’ to explain that rebellions and revolts were not uncommon to Pakistan cricket. Babar Azam had quit as Pakistan skipper in the aftermath of the team’s World Cup exit.

The Pakistan cricket team are in the midst of a crisis right now. Pakistan, under the captaincy of Babar Azam, failed to make the semi-finals of the 2023 Cricket World Cup, finishing fifth with just eight points. World Cup 2023: News | Schedule | Results | Points table. Their exit from the round-robin stage meant that captain Babar Azam faced a lot of criticism and scrutiny from former cricketers. The 29-year-old eventually resigned from Pakistan captaincy across all formats on Wednesday.

Mickey Arthur had been the team director of Pakistan whereas Grant Bradburn was the head coach. The ongoing post-World Cup crisis is Pakistan’s latest chapter in a long list of past controversies. Over the years, Pakistan have had their fair share of issues, from the 1992 revolt against Imran Khan to Shahid Afridi’s sacking as Pakistan skipper in 2011. Former Pakistan cricketer Rashid Latif went onto provide a year-by-year breakup of Pakistan’s performance in big tournaments, and this included several controversies involving Pakistan cricket team, including the revolt against former Pakistan batter Younus Khan, who had revealed a couple of years back that seniors in the team then were unhappy with his captaincy style and strong attitude.

Rashid Latif also went onto mention the 2010 spot-fixing scandal in England, for which the trio of Salmat Butt, Mohammad Amir and Mohammad Asif were arrested and banned. Following Babar’s resignation as skipper of Pakistan across formats, the PCB announced Shan Masood as captain of the Test team, whereas Shaheen Afridi will lead the T20I team. The PCB are yet to make an announcement on the ODI captain.
