World Cup 2023: Jarvo invades India vs Australia game in Chennai; ICC bans him from attending matches in tournament

Daniel Jarvis, also known as Jarvo, once again made headlines on Sunday when he invaded the field during the 2023 ODI World Cup match between India and Australia in Chennai. As a result of his actions, the ICC has banned Jarvo from attending matches in World Cup 2023. “The individual concerned has been banned from attending any further games at the event and the matter is in the hands of the Indian authorities,” news agency PTI quoted an ICC spokesperson as saying. “The safety and security of everyone involved in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 is our priority. We will work with the venue to understand what happened and consider if any additional security measures are required to prevent it happening again,” the ICC spokesperson added. Jarvo is a popular YouTuber from England, had stolen the limelight in 2021, during India’s tour of England, when he interrupted three of the Test matches by barging onto the field. Two years later, it seems Jarvo has made his presence felt, breaching the security at Chepauk and invading play. Photos and videos of Jarvo invading the field on Sunday went viral. It can be seen that Virat Kohli was miffed with this as he and KL Rahul intervened before the security personnel escorted Jarvo off the field.

On Sunday, Australia won the toss and opted to bat. Jasprit Bumrah removed Mitchell Marsh early before David Warner and Steve Smith forged a 69-run stand for the second wicket. India eventually went onto beat Australia by six wickets, with Virat Kohli (85) and KL Rahul (97*) putting up a 165-run stand to help India surpass the 200-run target.
