Australia batter David Warner on Wednesday registered his second century of the 2023 ODI World Cup, scoring 104 off just 93 balls against the Netherlands in Delhi. India skipper Rohit Sharma leads in this category, with seven centuries in his ODI World Cup career, whereas Warner now has six tons in the showpiece event, same as Sachin.
Former Sri Lanka captain Kumar Sangakkara and ex-Australia batter Ricky Ponting are joint third in this list, with five centuries each. It was only in Australia’s previous match, against Pakistan, that Warner roared back to form with a 124-ball 163. Against Netherlands, Warner was involved in a 132-run stand with Steve Smith (71) for the second wicket and an 84-run partnership with Marnus Labuschagne (62). Warner was eventually dismissed by Logan van Been in the 40th over, being caught by Aryan Dutt at fine leg. At the time of writing this report, Australia were 301/6 in the 44th over, with Glenn Maxwell and captain Pat Cummins in the middle.
