Mumbai Indians bowlers were taken to the cleaners by the Sunrisers Hyderabad batting unit at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Wednesday. Travis Head, who opened for SRH, got off the blocks in blazing fashion as the opening combination added 45 runs for the first wicket. Head then combined brilliantly with Abhishek Sharma as the left-handers climbed into the Mumbai Indians’ bowling. Head blazed away to 62 runs off 24 balls and then Abhishek Sharma was dismissed for 63 off 23 balls.
MI were under the pump as the scoreboard read 161/3 after just 11 overs. Pandya, in only his second match as Mumbai’s captain, was under the scanner - he had used Jasprit Bumrah for just one over before the 13th.
This was when former MI captain Rohit Sharma stepped in and offered some help to the under-fire skipper. He was even seen setting the fields amidst all the chaos and gestured Pandya to run back and guard the boundary ropes. This was interesting since it came just one match after Pandya directed Rohit to go to the boundary .
