The Royal Challengers Bengaluru will take on the Chennai Super Kings in the first match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season on 22 March. Royal Challengers Bengaluru have already reached Chennai where the players were involved in training sessions. Amidst this, Royal Challengers Bengaluru all-rounder Glenn Maxwell produced a light-hearted moment as he playfully mimicked Virat Kohli’s batting stance and his strokes.

While Kohli was busy hitting his stride with the bat in the nets, Maxwell, with his inimitable style, copied the former India skipper’s shots behind the nets. He also offered a few words of encouragement as Kohli was using the handle and was trying to be aggressive with his stroke play.

The incident was shared by the official social media handle of the IPL on Instagram. “Watch your back Virat Kohli,” read the post shared by IPL.

Even Royal Challengers Bengaluru pacer Mohammed Siraj joined in on the fun and he too tried to mimic Kohli’s shots. Maxwell went a step further as he even tried to copy Kohli’s meticulous gestures, including adjusting his gloves. Siraj and Maxwell then engaged in some playful banter.

This is not the first time that Maxwell has tried to impersonate a batter. Previously, he copied Steve Smith when he was with the Mumbai Indians. Maxwell did the same when Sachin Tendulkar was busy in his nets session. The Aussie all-rounder stood behind the nets and tried to copy the Master Blaster’s stance, his strokes and even his mannerisms.

Coming back to Royal Challengers Bengaluru, their batting will, once again, be the stronger vein in the upcoming IPL edition. They have an impressive batting unit featuring skipper Faf du Plessis, Kohli, Maxwell, Cameron Green, Rajat Patidar and Dinesh Karthik.

There will be a lot of focus on Kohli since he has been away from competitive action since the T20I series against Afghanistan earlier this year. With the T20 World Cup slated to be held in June, Kohli would want to get back to his best this season.
