Sri Lanka captain Wanindu Hasaranga joined multiple elite lists with his match-winning performance against Afghanistan in the second T20I on Monday. The all-rounder smacked 22 off 9 balls to help the hosts score 187/6 and then took 2 wickets for 19 as Sri Lanka won by 72 runs. With his two-wicket haul, Hasaranga became the second fastest to 100 T20I wickets and only the second Sri Lankan to reach the landmark.
He completed 100 T20I wickets in 63 matches and is only behind Rashid Khan who achieved the feat in a whopping 53 games.
Hasaranga is also the second Sri Lankan after Lasith Malinga to get to 100 T20I wickets and 11th men’s player overall.
Also, the Sri Lanka all-rounder has been most successful in men’s T20Is since his debut in 2019 as far was wicket-taking is concerned.
Overall, Hasaranga has 101 wickets from 63 T20Is at an average of 15.36 and an economy rate of 6.78.
Sri Lanka currently lead Afghanistan 2-0 in the three-match T20I series.
