Virat Kohli Ranji Trophy comeback, Delhi vs Railways: Virat Kohli made a much-awaited return to the Ranji Trophy and his domestic team, Delhi, after a gap of 12 years, on Thursday. Kohli has been named in Delhi’s playing XI for their Ranji Trophy Elite Group D match against Railways at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
Delhi won the toss and decided to bowl first against Railways which means the fans will have to wait for a while to witness Kohli batting.
BCCI diktat makes Kohli return to Ranji
Kohli, 37, last played for Delhi in 2012 in a Ranji Trophy match against Uttar Pradesh. His return to domestic cricket has been made possible by the new BCCI's diktat which says centrally contracted players have to take part in Ranji Trophy or other domestic matches to stay in contention for the national team. The stringent measures were put into place after a 3-1 drubbing in Australia.

Kohli had a forgettable Test series in Australia, scoring just 190 runs in nine innings despite hitting a century in Perth. He got out eight times in Australia, each time getting caught behind the wicket.
