The Delhi crowd supported the home team vociferously throughout the fixture and they even chanted ‘Kohli Kohli’ when Naveen came into bat. For Naveen, though, it was only an on-field thing. “Crowd will chant for their home cricketers and that is what they did. It is his (Kohli’s) home ground. He is a nice guy, a good player and we shook hands. “It (what happened) was always in the ground, it was nothing outside the ground. People make it big. They need that stuff for their followers. He said (today) ‘we are done with that and I said yes we are done with that. We shook hands and hugged,” Naveen told PTI.

Coming back to on-field developments, batting first, Afghanistan posted a defendable total of 272. Ace India pacer Jasprit Bumrah emerged as his side’s best performer with the ball having scalped four wickets. Indian cricket team kicked off the run chase on a promising note having forged a solid opening partnership of 156. Team India skipper Rohit Sharma played a match-winning knock of 131 to earn a resounding eight-wicket victory for the hosts. Virat Kohli, on the other hand, remained unbeaten having produced a fine knock of unbeaten 55. In their next match, India will be up against arch-rivals Pakistan on Saturday, 14 October.
