Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2024 witnessed a heartwarming moment between Islamabad United’s Colin Munro and a ball boy on 4 March.
Early during Islamabad’s fielding against the Peshawar Zalmi, a ball boy dropped a catch beyond the boundary rope leading to Munro giving the boy some words of wisdom.
Later, a second opportunity came the boy’s way which he did not miss, plucking the ball in a diving effort. The New Zealand cricketer was overcome with joy to see the kid succeed as he gave him a warm hug for the wonderful catch.
Incidentally, the ball was just out of Munro’s reach and even with the ball kid getting slightly blindsided, he held on perfectly to take the catch.
Just out of reach for Munro, but the ball boy dives in for a sensational catch and earns a warm hug 🤗😍#HBLPSL9 | #KhulKeKhel | #IUvPZ️ pic.twitter.com/uBxe33cfzO

In the 20th game of the PSL at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, Islamabad United emerged victorious by 29 runs. The match began with Peshawar Zalmi winning the toss and choosing to bowl.
The game had an exciting start as Islamabad’s Alex Hales was dismissed by Saim Ayub on the first ball of the inning. It wasn’t the day to be for Colin Munro either as he became the next batter to fall. He scored an underwhelming 15 runs in nine balls, leaving his side at 28/2. The innings were later rescued by the Salman Ali Agha and the team’s skipper Shadab Khan. Agha smashed 37 runs in 25 balls while Shadab stole the show with his 80-run knock. The skipper’s performance included four boundaries and six maximums. This helped Islamabad recover and put up a total of 196 runs.
The second half began with a nightmare start for Peshawar Zalmi. The team lost the wickets of Babar Azam, Saim Ayub and Mohammad Haris within the first three overs while putting up just three runs on the board. Aamir Jamal stepped up for the side and scored 87 runs in just 49 balls in an attempt to bring the game back for Peshawar. However, the star-performer was dismissed by Shadab Khan who scalped three wickets to curb Peshawar at 167 runs.
Both Islamabad United and Peshawar Zalmi are currently in a battle for the playoffs just like the previous year. After the victory, Islamabad took the third spot with three wins in seven games. They are currently level on points with Peshawar while the Karachi Kings are hot on both sides’ heels.
