USA vs England, T20 World Cup 2024 Super 8 Match in Barbados Preview: England will hope to keep the defence of their T20 World Cup title alive when they face USA in their final Super 8 clash at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados on Sunday.
The Jos Buttler-led side had scraped through to the second round after facing the prospect of an early exit at one stage, thrashing Oman and Namibia in style after their opening match against Scotland ended in a washout and they suffered a 36-run loss at the hands of Australia.
They had begun the Super 8s campaign with a commanding eight-wicket victory over West Indies in St Lucia, only for their progress to be brought to a screeching halt with a narrow seven-run defeat against South Africa at the same venue two days later.
USA, on the other hand, qualified for the Super 8s after defeating neighbours Canada by 7 wickets in the tournament opener in Dallas on 1 June and pulling off a stunning victory over 2022 runners-up Pakistan at the same venue. They had suffered a seven-wicket loss against India in their next outing in New York and their final group game against Ireland in Lauderhill ended in a washout.
The Americans had put up a tough fight against the Proteas in their opening Super 8 clash, falling short by 18 runs after being set a challenging 195-run target. They would suffer a bigger setback against the West Indians in their subsequent outing with a nine-wicket hammering at the hands of the co-hosts.
