The T20 World Cup warm-up match between USA and Bangladesh that was scheduled to take place on Tuesday had to be called off due to heavy thunderstorms, which ended up causing damage to the facilities at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas, Texas.
The two teams, who had recently played a three-match T20I series before the warm-up fixture, remained confined to their hotels after heavy rain caused damage to the ground that is later scheduled to host the tournament opener between co-hosts USA and neighbours Canada on 1 June.

“This is to confirm that the warm-up match between Bangladesh and the USA at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas today has been cancelled due to the conditions of the facilities following the adverse weather that has affected the area,” Bangladesh team manager Rabeed Iman was quoted as saying according to ESPNCricinfo following Tuesday’s washout in Dallas.
The Bangla Tigers travel to New York City next, where they face former champions India in their second warm-up fixture on 1 June at the Nassau County International Stadium, right before the ninth edition of ICC’s flagship T20 event gets underway.
Besides the USA-Canada fixture on 1 June, the Grand Prairie Stadium will host three more fixtures in the upcoming event — Netherlands vs Nepal on 4 June, USA vs Pakistan on 6 June and Bangladesh vs Sri Lanka on 8 June.
The 15,000-capacity Grand Prairie Stadium, a former baseball venue which has also hosted football matches, will host two more warm-up fixtures after the abandoned USA vs Bangladesh game. The Americans are up against Nepal on 30 May while Canada face Netherlands the following day.

The upcoming T20 World Cup will be the first ICC event taking place on American soil, with Lauderhill near Miami, Florida the third US city hosting matches in the ninth edition of the T20 World Cup. The United States however, will only be sharing hosting duties with West Indies in the group stage of the tournament.
The Super 8s along with the two semi-finals and the final will take place in the Caribbean, which had previously hosted the T20 World Cup in 2010.
