India announced their 15-member squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 on Tuesday. As announced earlier, Rohit Sharma will captain India at the ICC event with Hardik Pandya being his deputy.
Apart from Rohit, Yashasvi Jaiswal has been picked as the other opener while Shubman Gill is part of the reserves. Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav are the remaining specialist batters in the team. Both Rishabh Pant and Sanju Samson have been picked as wicketkeeper-batterss while the list of all-rounders includes Pandya, Shivam Dube, Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel.

Also contrary to the media reports, the BCCI has opted for two specialist spinners in the squad – Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal – while the three pacers in the squad are Arshdeep Singh, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj.
Apart from Gill, Rinku Singh, Khaleel Ahmed and Avesh Khan are also part of the reserves.
Some of the top names that failed to make it to the squad or reserves list include KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, Ishan Kishan and Ravi Bishnoi.
BCCI also announced that India captain Rohit and chairman of selectors Ajit Agarkar will be holding a press conference on 2 May at BCCI headquarters in Mumbai at 4 PM over the T20 World Cup squad.
Team India starts its T20 World Cup campaign against Ireland on 5 June in New York. They will also play against Pakistan, USA and Canada in the group stages. All their group matches will be played in the USA.
