Uganda off-spinner Frank Nsubuga is set to become the oldest cricketer to play at a T20 World Cup after he was named in his team’s 15-member squad for the upcoming showpiece event in West Indies and USA. Frank is 43 years old and will turn 44 in August.

Brian Masaba as been named the Uganda captain, with Riazat Ali Shah the team’s vice-captain. This is Uganda’s debut appearance in a senior men’s Cricket World Cup, irrespective of the format.

In the Africa Qualifiers, Uganda finished second in the Regional Final, behind Namibia, to seal their berth.

They will get their campaign underway versus Afghanistan on 3 June in Guyana, having been clubbed in Group C, which also includes New Zealand, Papua New Guinea and hosts West Indies.

Uganda squad: Brian Masaba (c), Riazat Ali Shah (vc), Kenneth Waiswa, Dinesh Nakrani, Frank Nsubuga, Ronak Patel, Roger Mukasa, Cosmas Kyewuta, Bilal Hassun, Fred Achelam, Robinson Obuya, Simon Ssesazi, Henry Ssenyondo, Alpesh Ramjani and Juma Miyaji.

Reserve players: Ronald Lutaaya and Innocent Mwebaze.
