“Playing for the country is the most special feeling that I will never be able to describe in words. This new role brings with it, a lot of responsibility, excitement and enthusiasm. I hope to keep receiving your support and blessings. All fame reaches God, God is great.”
In the World Cup, SKY made 199 runs from eight matches at a strike rate of 135.37 besides taking the memorable David Miller catch in the final over off Hardik’s bowling.

It has been reported that there were heated discussions during the BCCI meeting regarding who will be India’s next T20 captain. The lack of consensus resulted in the squad announcement being delayed by a few days, but Suryakumar finally won the race with the backing from new head coach Gautam Gambhir and BCCI chairman of selectors Ajit Agarkar.
Hardik’s poor fitness record went against the all-rounder.
Suryakumar’s first assignment as a captain will be the three-match T20 series against Sri Lanka which will start on 27 July.
