Sri Lanka received a setback ahead of their two-Test series against Australia with pacer Nuwan Pradeep ruled out of series Down Under with a hamstring injury. “Nuwan Pradeep, who is part of Sri Lanka’s Test squad touring Australia for the two Test series; has sustained an injury and will be out of the series,” Sri Lanka Cricket tweeted on Sunday, confirming a Grade 1 strain in his left hamstring.

Pradeep bowled just two overs before injuring his hamstring during the visitors’ warm-up fixture against Cricket Australia XI in Hobart last week. The decision to rule him out of the series was taken after he underwent a scan. Pradeep last played a Test for Sri Lanka in October 2017. Sri Lanka are set to take part in the first Test in Brisbane, which will be played with a pink ball under lights on 24 January.
