Heinrich Klassen, Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head scored blistering half centuries as Sunrisers Hyderabad romped a massive total against Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Wednesday. SRH enthralled the home fans in their first home game of the season as they posted the highest total in IPL history - 277/3 at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad.
In reply, Mumbai Indians scored a big total of their own, 246/5, helped by Tilak Varma’s 64 and cameos by Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan, Naman Dhir and Tim David as bowlers had a day to forget.
It was an especially forgettable outing for MI bowlers after skipper Hardik Pandya decided to field on a track that eventually produced 523 runs.
Playing his first IPL match since 2017, Travis Head set the foundation for SRH with 62 runs off 24 balls and briefly held the record for fastest fifty by a Hyderabad player (18 balls). It was broken moments later when Abhishek got there in 16 balls.

Sunrisers Hyderabad’s 277/3 is the fourth highest total in T20s and the highest outside of internationals. It is the highest in IPL’s 16 year history. They broke RCB’s 11-year record where they had scored 263/5 against the now-defunct Pune Warriors India in 2013. The previous highest score in any domestic/franchise league was Punjab’s 275/6 against Andhra Pradesh in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in 2023/24.
