Sunrisers Hyderabad chased down a below-par 166 run target against Lucknow Super Giants on Wednesday in IPL 2024. Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma were at the forefront of the quickfire chase at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
Needing 166 to win, SRH cruised past the finish line in just 9.4 overs and with 10 wickets to spare. In the process, they became the first team to chase down 150-plus total in less than 10 overs in the history of T20 cricket.
A look at the numbers from the blitz:
62 balls remaining: SRH won with 10.2 overs remaining - the biggest such margin in chases of 150-plus runs in T20s. The previous biggest win was when Brisbane Heat successfully chased down 157 against Melbourne Stars with 60 balls to spare in the 2018-19 BBL.
167: SRH’s total is the highest by any team by the end of the tenth over in men’s T20s. The previous highest was Worcestershire’s 162 against Northamptonshire in 2018.
