Sanju Samson dropped a million-dollar reaction to him scoring his maiden international hundred which led India to an ODI series victory over South Africa. Samson smashed 108 off 114 balls in the third ODI at Boland Park as India won by 78 runs to clinch a 2-1 series victory. Samson is among one of the most popular Indian players but despite making his international debut in 2015, the Kerala batter has struggled to cement his place in Team India. He has managed to play in just 40 international games in the last eight years. It is largely felt that his maiden ODI ton will help him get more consistent opportunities for Team India. Samson, however, is not ready to get carried away. On Instagram, the batter wrote that he wants to “keep moving forward”.

Samson will now target the IPL 2024 where he will captain Rajasthan Royals (RR). A good run with the bat in the cash-rich league can help him get into contention for the T20 World Cup 2024 squad. During the mid-innings break on Thursday, Samson reflected on his hundred and shared his emotions. “Feels really emotional, going through the emotions now. Very happy to achieve this. Have been putting in a lot of work physically and mentally, happy to see the results go my way now. They bowled really well with the new ball, and the older ball was getting slower and more difficult to bat,” he said. Sunil Gavaskar, India’s batting legend, also praised the batter after his maiden ton and added that the hundred has the potential to prove to be career-changing for the 29-year-old. “The standout for me from this innings was his shot selection. In the past, he has gotten out despite getting starts. Today, you couldn’t fault him at all, he was biding his time, waiting for the bad ball, and then getting a hundred. I think this hundred is going to change his career,” Gavaskar said on Star Sports.
