Sanju Samson’s father, Vishwanath Samson, has made damning claims against some of the top names in Indian cricket including the likes of Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni, Rahul Dravid, and Rohit Sharma for wasting “10 years of” his son’s career. Sanju Samson made his India debut in 2015 but has only managed 52 international matches in the last nine years. Currently, he is part of the T20I squad in South Africa.
Samson’s father: ‘Four people wasted 10 years of my son’s life’
As per a report in NDTV, Vishwanath Samson took the names of Dhoni, Kohli, Rohit, and Dravid as people who tried to hurt Samson’s career.
“There are 3-4 people who wasted 10 years of my son’s vital career…captains like Dhoni ji, Virat [Kohli] ji, Rohit [Sharma] ji and coach [Rahul] Dravid ji. These four people wasted 10 years of my son’s life but the more they hurt him, the stronger Sanju came out of the crisis,” Viswanath told Media One as per the NDTV report.
Samson, who has spent a lot of time on the fringes, is finally enjoying some good time with Team India, having recently scored back-to-back T20I hundreds . He was recently promoted to the opening slot by new coach Gautam Gambhir and new T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav. After being promoted to the opening slot in Sri Lanka, Sanju Samson suffered back-to-back ducks in the last two matches of the three-game series, before smashing a hundred against Bangladesh at home.
In his very next T20I match in South Africa, Sanju Samson scored another hundred but has suffered back-to-back ducks once again in the last two matches . Team India will now hope for more consistency from the 30-year-old Kerala batter.

Sanju Samson reveals Surykumar’s help
Recently Sanju revealed how the confidence shown in him by Suryakumar played a big role in helping him turn things around in international cricket. He revealed that SKY promised him seven matches at the top as an opener in T20Is during a Duleep Trophy game.
“When I was playing Duleep Trophy, in the second match, Surya was playing for the other team and during the match itself, he told Chetta, ‘agla 7 match tera hai’, (you are going to play next 7 matches), you are going to open the innings in the next 7 games. Whatever happens, I will fully back you,” Samson told JioCinema after the first T20I against South Africa.

If you get such clarity and confidence from the captain, then it reflects differently on the ground as well. The team management gave me that clarity way ahead that 7 matches (3 vs Bangladesh and 4 vs South Africa) I will be opening. I am not looking too far. Just looking to contribute to the team’s cause.”
Sanju Samson will have another chance to make a mark when India take on South Africa in the final T20I of the four-match series on Friday at Johannesburg. India currently lead the series 2-1.
