Rohit Sharma and chief selector Ajit Agarkar engage in intense discussion after India's win at Visakhapatnam

The Indian cricket team bounced back resoundingly to level the Test series 1-1 against England on Monday. Team India secured a 106-run victory in the second Test, played in Visakhapatnam. Despite missing several first-team players like Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja and KL Rahul, India clinched an emphatic win to script a comeback in the five-match Test series. Following the conclusion of the second Test, Team India skipper Rohit Sharma and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) chairman of selectors Ajit Agarkar were seen engaged in a discussion near the boundary ropes at the Visakhapatnam ground. It is still not known what exactly was the topic of the discussion but many feel that the duo were probably talking about India’s road ahead and the possible squad in the remainder of the Test series against England.

The Indian cricket team did claim a win in the second Test against England but there will certainly be some question marks regarding the team selection. With big names like Kohli, Jadeja and Rahul missing the contest, new faces like Rajat Patidar and Mukesh Kumar were included in the playing XI. But both Mukesh and Patidar were unimpressive in the second Test against the Ben Stokes-led side. Meanwhile, the uncertainty surrounding Kohli’s return to the team for the remainder of the series is still going on. India head coach Rahul Dravid has now stated that the national selectors would have a better idea on Kohli’s potential comeback to the squad. “I think it’s best to ask the selectors. I am sure they are the best people to answer ahead of the team selection for the next three Tests. We will get to that. I am sure there will be selection over the next few days. We will connect with him and find out,” Dravid said at the post-match press conference in Visakhapatnam yesterday. Kohli did not feature in the first two Tests against England owing to personal reasons. Some media outlets claimed that talismanic India batter had flown out of the country. Former South Africa cricketer AB de Villiers said that Kohli and his wife Anushka Sharma were expecting a second child. Kohli was initially named for the first two Tests against England. But the former India skipper later pulled out and was replaced by Rajat Patidar, who made his debut in the second game in Visakhapatnam.
