Rinku Singh says ‘sorry’ for breaking media box glass during India vs South Africa 2nd T20I

Rinku Singh has quickly risen through the ranks and has now become one of the key batters for India in T20Is. He is not only a finisher but has also shown a solid temperament to arrest any batting collapse and take the game deep before opening his shoulders. In the second T20I against South Africa, he showcased his prowess by scoring his maiden half-century for India. Rinku Singh’s aggressive innings had two sixes and nine fours, and powered him to an unbeaten 39-ball 68*. This was a vital innings for India as they reached 180 despite a shaky start. Facing a challenging situation with the team three wickets down when he entered the crease, Rinku said that Suryakumar Yadav encouraged him to play his natural game. “When I went in our team was three wickets down. It was a tough situation. I was batting with Suryakumar Yadav and he told me to play the way I do. I took some time to settle in. I was finding it tricky to understand the wicket. I played some balls and then started to hit. Suryakumar Yadav told me to keep believing in myself,” Rinku Singh said after the match. He also spoke on the two sixes and even sheepishly apologized for unintentionally breaking a glass panel in the media box with one of his sixes. “I did not realise that my shot had hit the glass. Only when you told me that I got to know about it. I am sorry,” Rinku added. Despite a formidable total to chase, South Africa were dominant in response, smashing the Indian bowling attack to all parts of the ground as they wrapped up the match with more than an over to spare. South Africa raced to 67 for one in five overs and eventually sealed the win in 13.5 overs. Reeza Hendricks and Aiden Markram led the home team’s charge and ensured a comfortable win for the home team.
