The opening day of the second Test between Pakistan and Bangladesh at Rawalpindi was washed out on Friday due to rain with the toss yet to take place. Bangladesh leads the two-match Test series 1-0 after winning the first Test by 10 wickets at the same venue. It’s a do-or-die match for Pakistan to level the series and they will hope for rain to stay away from the match on Saturday.
The chances of play looked bleak from the very start on Friday as there had been overnight rain in Rawalpindi, forcing a delayed start. The puddles of water on the ground meant the pitch was not fit to play. The rain returned on Friday morning to worsen the situation, and the first session was washed out after an inspection.
The entire day’s play was also called off soon as the rain returned after a brief break.
The second Test was earlier scheduled to take place in Karachi but was moved to Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium due to renovation work in Karachi.
