Senior India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja officially joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the party that is currently in power at the Centre, on Thursday.
The news was shared by Jadeja’s wife Rivaba, herself a BJP Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) from the Jamnagar North Assembly constituency.

The post shared by Rivaba contained images of her membership card as well as that of her husband.
Jadeja, who remains an integral part of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) franchise in the Indian Premier League (IPL), had recently announced his retirement from Twenty20 Internationals after helping India win the T20 World Cup in the US and the Caribbean.
The spin-bowling all-rounder, however, remains key to India’s plans in Test cricket, where he forms a lethal pair along with off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin.
‘Jaddu’ has also made no announcement on his ODI future so far, although it remains to be seen if he remains in the fray for the next World Cup that will take place in South Africa three years from now, at which point he will be 39 years of age.
His latest announcement, however, certainly suggests Jadeja is eyeing a future in politics, much like current India head coach Gautam Gambhir who was a Member of Parliament with the BJP but had quit the party ahead of the Lok Sabha Election this year.
