Ravichandran Ashwin bid goodbye to the Indian cricket team with a powerful and emotional speech in the dressing room after announcing his retirement from international cricket on Wednesday. Ashwin retired from all forms of international cricket immediately after the Brisbane Test between India and Australia ended in a draw. While Ashwin’s retirement in the middle of a high-stakes Test series in Australia took us all by surprise, Ashwin, in his speech, said the time had come for him to bid goodbye.
“Even though I am not exhibiting it, it’s a truly emotional moment,” Ashwin said at the start of his dressing room speech. “Thanks Rohit, thanks Virat, thanks Gauti bhai. I am so happy today.
“It feels like just now I toured Australia for the first time. I saw everybody transition. Rahul paaji left, Sachin paaji left,” Ashwin added.
