Mumbai crushed Tamil Nadu by an innings and 70 runs on Monday to storm into the Ranji Trophy 2023-24 final. The semi-final, which was being played at the Bandra Kurla Complex Ground, got over inside three days as Shams Mulani wreaked havoc with a four-wicket haul in the final innings of the match.
Mumbai will face the winner of the second semi-final between Vidarbha and Madhya Pradesh.
After making just 146 in the first innings, Tamil Nadu were bowled out for 162 in the second essay on Day 3 of the Ranji semis. Baba Indrajith (70) was the only batter to score fifty-plus score for TN as only four batters managed to cross double-figure mark. Apart from Mulani, Shardul Thakur, Mohit Avasthi and Tanush Kotian took two wickets each.
In between Tamil Nadu’s two innings, Mumbai scored 378 with Shardul Thakur scoring a match-winning 109 from No. 9 slot. Sarfaraz Khan’s brother Musheer Khan also hit a fifty (55).
The final will be played at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai from 10 March.
