Punjab Kings vs Rajasthan Royals, IPL 2024 Match 27 preview: Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) will be hoping to bounce back from defeats in their most recent outings in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) when they lock horns in Mullanpur on Saturday.

Both Punjab and Rajasthan would suffer heartbreaking defeats in matches that went down the wire, suffering a two-run and three-wicket defeat against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Gujarat Titans (GT) respectively.

Middle-order batters Shashank Singh and Ashutosh Sharma stitched an unbroken 66-run partnership for the seventh wicket that nearly helped PBKS snatch victory from the jaws of defeat after being set 183 to win by the ‘Orange Army’ in Mullanpur.

Table toppers RR, meanwhile, failed to defend an imposing total of 196 as GT, riding on skipper Shubman Gill’s 44-ball 72 as well as handy cameos from Rahul Tewatia (22) and Rashid Khan (24 not out) got over the line in the final delivery of the match.

Punjab and Rajasthan have squared off a total of 26 times in the league since the inaugural edition in 2008, with RR leading the head-to-head count 15 to 11. Saturday’s encounter, however, will be the first meeting between the two teams at the Maharaja Yajuvendra Singh Stadium in Mullanpur, the venue that replaced Mohali’s IS Bindra PCA Stadium as PBKS’ home venue this season.
