Punjab Kings vs Gujarat Titans preview: Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Gujarat Titans (GT) will look to revive their hopes when they face each other in an Indian Premier League (IPL) match in Mullanpur on Sunday. Both PBKS and former champions GT are struggling in the bottom half of the points table. While GT are in eighth place with six points in seven matches, PBKS are ninth with four points from seven matches.
What’s worse for PBKS is the fact that they have lost their last three matches and would be desperate for the two full points against the Titans. PBKS would look to take inspiration from Shashank Singh and Ashutosh Sharma’s knocks against GT in the reverse fixture, when the Kings had completed a remarkable three-wicket win in Ahmedabad while chasing 200. However, each of their three defeats since have come in the last over, something that Punjab will be vary about.
The form of Jitesh Sharma, Prabhsimran Singh and Liam Livingstone is worrying for Punjab Kings. The trio haven’t had an IPL to remember thus far. Sam Curran, meanwhile, has one half century and four single figure scores to his name in IPL 2024. Shikhar Dhawan is still unavailable for Punjab has he continues to recover from a shoulder injury.
For GT, only Shubman Gill has scored a fifty among the top five batters and the 2022 champions will hope for something special from the rest of the top-order batters. Sai Sudharsan is another batter who has showed up to the potential but he too will need to get those big knocks.
