NZ vs NED, World Cup 2023: New Zealand look to continue winning momentum against Netherlands; LIVE streaming and more

Just a few days back against Pakistan in the 2023 ODI World Cup, Netherlands scripted a spirited fightback that eventually went in vain. In that match, Netherlands were looking to chase down a target of 287. In the chase, Netherlands had got off to a sedate start while losing two wickets. However, Vikramjit Singh (52) and Bas de Leede (67) staged a spirited fightback with a 70-run stand for the third wicket to revive their hopes. Ever since that partnership was broken, the Dutch lost the plot, and eventually lost the game by 81 runs, being dismissed for 205. On Monday, however, Netherlands face a different challenge against New Zealand. This New Zealand side has exponentially evolved over the last four years, ever since their heartbreak in the 2019 World Cup, and their determination and grit was on display in the tournament opener against England. Thanks to his Indian Premier League (IPL) stint with Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Devon Conway would be pretty familiar with the Indian conditions, while Rachin Ravindra would look to continue his fiery form. Netherlands know that they have their task cut out. They will need more than just Vikramjit Singh and Bas de Leede to step up, and will have to put up a fight as a unit. Although Netherlands may not change their lineup much despite their defeat, it will be interesting to see if Wesley Barresi gets a game. Meanwhile, in the New Zealand camp, Kane Williamson looks all set to miss a second consecutive game. After having missed the first match due to lack of full fitness on return from a hip injury, it will be somewhat of a setback for the Kiwis when Williamson sits out a second game. “Kane’s also been progressing very well – I think the fielding is still the element for him that he’s just got to get a little bit higher and get a little more trust in his body,” said coach Gary Stead on Sunday. “But he is progressing really well, and we are pretty confident he will be playing the third match for us. We have got another training to get through today, so we will finalise the team once we have got through that training. At this stage with Kane, we are looking like the third game is when he will start the tournament,” stead added. In Williamson’s absence, Tom Latham has been leading the Black Caps. However, the good news for them is that both Tim Southee and Lockie Ferguson are fit for the Netherlands game after missing the opener. While Southee had fractured his thumb during the ODI series against England recently, Lockie Ferguson had missed New Zealand’s first match due to a niggle. New Zealand will not want to take Netherlands lightly. Kiwis will look to continue their aggressive brand of cricket but also of note will be how Netherlands approach the game. New Zealand vs Netherlands head-to-head New Zealand and Netherlands have faced each other on four occasions, with the Kiwis winning all of them. The two teams have met only once in the ODI World Cup before, in the 1996 edition. The Black Caps went on to win by 119 runs on the back of a half-century by Craig Spearman and a spell from Chris Harris (3/28). Squads: Netherlands: Scott Edwards (c/w), Colin Ackermann, Wesley Barresi, Bas de Leede, Aryan Dutt, Sybrand Engelbrecht, Ryan Klein, Teja Nidamanuru, Max O’Dowd, Saqib Zulfiqar, Shariz Ahmad, Logan van Beek, Roelof van der Merwe, Paul van Meekeren, Vikramjit Singh.
