Mumbai Indians acquire 49% stake of Oval Invincibles in The Hundred

Reliance Industries is set to expand its global footprint in cricket. They already own the Mumbai Indians side in IPL and WPL, MI New York (MLC), MI Cape Town (SA20) and MI Emirates (ILT20).

Mumbai Indians acquire 49% stake of Oval Invincibles in The Hundred

Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), the owners of Mumbai Indians (MI), announced on Monday that they have acquired a 49 per cent stake in the Oval Invincibles , a London-based franchise in the England and Wales Cricket Board’s (ECB) The Hundred. RIL informed that they have made a successful bid to partner with Oval Invincibles through its subsidiary, RISE Worldwide.

With the latest acquisition, RIL is set to expand its global footprint in cricket. They already own the Mumbai Indians side in IPL and WPL, MI New York (MLC), MI Cape Town (SA20) and MI Emirates (ILT20).

The completion of the Oval Invincibles transaction is now subject to customary diligence and documentation.

At Mumbai Indians, we remain deeply committed to nurturing young talent, building champion teams, and bringing fans closer to the game.”

The Oval Invincibles are the current champion of the Men’s Hundred and also won the title in 2023. The women’s team won the title in 2021 and 2022.

To have the iconic Oval, which has witnessed some of cricket’s greatest moments, as our home venue is truly special. We look forward to collaborating with like-minded partners, Surrey CCC, who share our passion and ethos for the sport. By leveraging our global cricket expertise, we aim to further elevate the teams, engage with fans, and expand our footprint in the sport we love.”

Over 17 years of operation, the Mumbai Indians teams have won 11 league titles worldwide, including five IPL championships, two Champions League trophies, and triumphs in the inaugural WPL and Major League Cricket in 2023, ILT20 in 2024, and SA20 in 2025.
