MS Dhoni picked premier India fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah as his current top choice while responding to a query at an event. With India touring Sri Lanka for a limited overs series, former Indian captain was asked about his current favourite player - batter and bowler.
Dhoni chose Jasprit Bumrah as his favourite bowler while not naming anyone in the batter category. Instead of opting for prominent players like Virat Kohli or Rohit Sharma, Dhoni generously selected the pace sensation Bumrah for this distinction.
Was it an easy choice for Dhoni to pick Bumrah from the current group of bowlers? Perhaps. But does that imply that Team India lacks world-class bowlers if Bumrah is absent? “Definitely not,” Dhoni clarified.
“Choosing a favourite is easier with a bowler like Bumrah in the mix. It’s more challenging to select a batsman because we have so many talented players. That doesn’t mean our bowlers aren’t exceptional. It’s tough to choose just one batsman since each one I watch seems to perform brilliantly.
“As long as Team India is doing well, I won’t single out a batsman, but I hope they continue to score runs. Still, I have chosen my favourite bowler,” Dhoni said.

More ShortsBumrah, often regarded as one of the greatest bowlers in the modern era, played a pivotal role in leading Rohit Sharma’s Team India to their second ICC T20 World Cup title in the Caribbean.
Following Dhoni’s historic victory in 2007, Rohit’s team replicated that success by defeating South Africa in a thrilling final. For his remarkable individual performances, Bumrah was named Player of the Tournament.
Bumrah took 15 wickets at an impressive average of 8.26 for Rohit Sharma’s Team India, becoming the second Indian player after Kohli to receive the Player of the Tournament award at an ICC event.
Currently rested for the two white-ball series against Sri Lanka, Bumrah has not played for the national team since the T20 World Cup. He is expected to return for the ongoing ICC World Test Championship (WTC).
