Wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant on Sunday became the most expensive player in Indian Premier League (IPL) history after he was acquired by Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for a whopping Rs 27 crore at the IPL 2025 mega auction in Saudi Arabia’s Jeddah. LSG also acquired South African big-hitter David Miller for Rs 7.5 crore and his teammate Aiden Markram (Rs 2 crore). Other additions were Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh and Indian pacer Avesh Khan.
LSG had retained Nicholas Pooran, Ravi Bishnoi, Mayank Agarwal, Mohsin Khan, and Ayush Badoni on 31 October, which was the deadline for all ten franchises to announce their list of retained players. LSG, however, opted not to retain KL Rahul, who was their skipper from 2022 to 2024.
