India vs South Africa ODI Preview: It was only a month ago that India and South Africa suffered their respective ODI World Cup heartbreaks. South Africa were stopped short in the semi-finals while India fell to Australia in the title clash at home. Fast forward to Sunday and they will return to the same format with focus moving to the 2025 Champions Trophy. But, unlike then, there is no pressure or nervousness to deal with. For many, this ODI series makes little sense considering it is just days after the T20I series ended and the T20 World Cup is a few months away. With ODI not the short term priority, both teams are without many big names and crucial figures. India have nine players in the squad who have played ten or fewer ODIs. South Africa’s squad includes five such players. The series will give youngsters a chance to shine and for selectors to take note with Champions Trophy the long term target. The Wanderers Stadium will turn pink for breast-cancer awareness, and a sellout crowd is expected to pack the stands.
