Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) vs Mumbai Indians (MI), IPL 2024 Preview: Kolkata Knight Riders will be hoping to become the first team to officially qualify for the playoffs in the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) and complete a rare season double against Mumbai Indians when the two sides lock horns at Kolkata’s Eden Gardens on Saturday.

KKR had earlier defeated MI by 24 runs in Mumbai, registering their first victory at the Wankhede Stadium in 12 years in the process, and will now be shifting their attention towards the prospect of completing a season double against the five-time champions for only the third time in the IPL.

Kolkata had previously won all of their encounters against Mumbai in a season in 2014 and 2022. Neither of those seasons had MI hosting KKR at the Wankhede Stadium in its home fixture. The matches between the two in 2014 had taken place in Abu Dhabi and Cuttack respectively. Eight years later, the two teams would square off in Pune and Navi Mumbai.

KKR currently are level on 16 points with Rajasthan Royals and a victory on Saturday should help them confirm a top-four finish at the end of the league stage. MI, meanwhile, are already out of the race and will be playing for pride in their second-last match of what has been an underwhelming maiden season for Hardik Pandya as captain.
