The fake screenshots of KL Rahul announcing his retirement from professional cricket on Instagram is going viral on social media platforms.

Is KL Rahul Retiring from professional cricket? The social media X (formerly Twitter) is littered with posts claiming that Rahul is set to retire. To prove their claims, fans are also sharing screenshots of an Instagram story from Rahul in which he apparently wrote that he is retiring from professional cricket.

“After much reflection and consideration, I have decided to announce my retirement from professional cricket. This decision has not been easy, as the sport has been a significant part of my life for many years. I am deeply grateful for the support and encouragement from my family, friends, teammates, and fans throughout my career,” the screenshot.

The truth is completely different. KL Rahul has not retired from professional cricket.

Rahul in his Instagram story had only written: “I have an announcement to make, stay tuned…”.

This was twisted by a few accounts who are sharing fake quotes and are claiming the right-handed batter is retiring from professional cricket.

Rahul’s last international match for India was the second ODI against Sri Lanka on 4 August. He will next be seen in action in the Duleep Trophy. The Lucknow Super Giants player has not been enjoying the best of the times in international cricket, having lost his spot in the T20I side. He also faces competition from the likes of Rishabh Pant and Dhruv Jurel in the other two formats.

There are also rumours that LSG may let him go before the IPL mega auction for the 2025 season.
