Kolkata Knight Riders vs Lucknow Super Giants, IPL 2024 Match 28 toss report: Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) skipper Shreyas Iyer invited Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) to bat in their IPL 2024 match in Kolkata on Sunday.

Both teams made changes to their lineups; while KKR brought Harshit Rana in place of Rinku Singh, who might feature as an ‘Impact Player’ later in the game, LSG brought Deepak Hooda and Mohsin Khan back in their XI besides handing West Indian pacer Shamarh Joseph his maiden cap.

Kolkata have never beaten Lucknow in three previous meetings in the IPL and will hope to end the winless run on the occasion of Bengali New Year. The last two meetings between KKR and LSG ended in thrilling fashion, with Lucknow winning by two runs and one run in the 2022 and 2023 editions respectively.

Kolkata Knight Riders vs Lucknow Super Giants, IPL 2024 Match 28 preview: Both Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) will be hoping to bounce back from a defeat in their last outing when they lock horns in their IPL 2024 clash in Kolkata on Sunday.

Kolkata and Lucknow will be squaring off in the afternoon heat at Kolkata’s Eden Gardens with defending champions Chennai Super Kings set to face Mumbai Indians later in the evening on Sunday.

KKR had suffered their first defeat of the 17th IPL season with a seven-wicket loss at the hands of defending champions CSK in Chennai. LSG too would fail to defend a target, suffering a six-wicket loss against Delhi Capitals (DC) in Lucknow — their first loss at home this season.

While a victory will not affect KKR’s position on the IPL 2024 points table, only helping them close the gap with leaders Rajasthan Royals, LSG will jump to the second spot for the first time this season should they leave the Eden Gardens with a fourth win in six matches.

Kolkata additionally, will be eyeing their first-ever win against Lucknow, having lost all three encounters against the team that debuted alongside Gujarat Titans in 2022. Two of their three meetings concluded in thrilling fashion though, with LSG winning their last two encounters against KKR by two runs and one run respectively.
