Williamson recently missed the T20I series against Australia at home due to paternity leave, but will be back for the two-match Test series against the neighbours, which begins on Thursday.

Before giving the T20I series a miss, Williamson was part of the Test squad as New Zealand secured their first-ever Test series win over South Africa. He scored three hundreds in two Tests.

After the Test series against Australia, Williamson will be coming to India to take part in the IPL 2024 where he will be representing Gujarat Titans. Williamson had miss majority of the IPL 2023 after suffering a knee injury in the first match of the tournament. However, he is expected to play a bigger role this season in the absence of former captain Hardik Pandya who left the franchise for Mumbai Indians.
