Australian fast bowler Josh Hazlewood could miss the remainder of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy against India as he suffered a calf strain on Day 4 of the Brisbane Test. Hazlewood bowled just one over in the first session on Tuesday before walking off the field due to a calf issue.
In the drinks break after his over, the 33-year-old pacer was seen having a conversation with captain Pat Cummins, Steve Smith, and the physio before leaving the pitch.
Cricket Australia has said that Hazlewood “sustained a right-sided calf strain” which will stop him from playing any part in the ongoing Brisbane Test and he is likely to miss the remainder of the Test series.
“Josh Hazlewood has sustained a right-sided calf strain which will prevent him from playing any further part in Test match against India in Brisbane,” a CA statement said. “He sustained the injury during the warm-up this morning and after bowling one over was unable to continue. He is likely to miss the remainder of the Test series. A squad replacement will be made in due course.”
Boland likely to replace Jazlewood at MCG
Scott Boland is expected to replace Hazlewood in the fourth Test at Melbourne Cricket Ground. Boland took five wickets in Adelaide Test when Hazlewood was missing due to an injury.
