Jofra Archer looks to have been recovering well from his recurring elbow injury as the English pacer has recently returned to action in County Cricket after a prolonged period. The speedster has been inconsistent in the international circuit since January 2020 when he first underwent surgery owing to pain in his right elbow. Having missed several important assignments for the England team over the last few years, Archer now hopes to earn a recall, with days leading up to the ICC T20 World Cup, beginning in June. The 28-year-old has recently featured in a second-division match of County Cricket, representing Sussex XI.
Archer put up a commendable performance in the domestic red-ball match. He claimed a wicket as well by baffling an opponent batter with a hooping inswinger. The ball initially pitched outside the off-stump but took an unpredictable turn. The batter, who completely missed the line, tried to keep his leg away from the stump, but the ball directly hit his pads. Archer made a loud appeal for an LBW and the on-field umpire did not take much time to raise his finger, signalling out.
A clip of the delivery was dropped on X (formerly Twitter) by Country Cricket. The caption of the post read, “Jofra Archer. Second XI match. Ridiculous hoop. Play that.”

Archer has already withdrawn his name from the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). He missed the majority of the franchise tournament last season due to an injury struggle. Earlier this month, England men’s cricket’s managing director Robert Key revealed his plans to play Archer in the T20 World Cup as he feels the pacer will undoubtedly add significant strength to the bowling unit.

I don’t want to get back to this thing where he plays and then goes down again. He wanted to play in the IPL, but we said not this time. Hopefully, the years he has missed he can add to the end of his career.”
In his career so far, Archer has featured 49 matches for England across formats to pick up a total of 102 wickets. He played a pivotal role in the country’s triumph in the 2019 World Cup. Archer fetched 20 scalps in 11 appearances during the campaign.
