Virat Kohli, India head coach Gautam Gambhir, and BCCI president Roger Binny led the wishes for Indian cricket board secretary Jay Shah after he was elected unopposed as the new ICC Chairman. Shah’s tenure at ICC will begin in December this year and he will be replacing outgoing New Zealander Greg Barclay.

At 35, Shah is the youngest ever ICC chairman.
Taking to X, Indian cricketer Kohli wished Shah ‘great success’ as he gets ready for the global role with ICC.
“Many congratulations @JayShah on being elected as the ICC chairman. Wishing you great success ahead,” Kohli wrote on X.
Gambhir on X said that he was confident cricket will grow “tremendously” under Shah’s leadership. “Many congrats @JayShah bhai! I know world cricket will grow tremendously under your exceptional leadership!”

BCCI president Binny said Shah’s “foresight and leadership will further enhance the reputation” of cricket. “I take this opportunity to congratulate Mr. Jay Shah on his appointment as the independent chair of the International Cricket Council (ICC). He has been a strong pillar as the BCCI Honorary Secretary and the President of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC),” he said in a statement.
“He has been a cornerstone in ideating and implementing some of the pathbreaking initiatives in cricket. As he takes over as the ICC Chairman, I am sure his foresight and leadership will further enhance the reputation and well-being of our beloved game.”
