India wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant could leave Delhi Capitals ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction and reportedly join Chennai Super Kings (CSK). According to a Dainik Jagran report, DC are unhappy with Pant and the franchise is pondering on whether to retain him or not.
The 26 year-old could also be traded to another franchise, but DC’s Director of Cricket Sourav Ganguly wants Pant to remain as captain.
Pant could join five-time champions Chennai Super Kings if Delhi Capitals end up releasing him. As per a CSK official, the franchise are reportedly looking for a possible wicketkeeper replacement for MS Dhoni should he announce his retirement from the IPL. And they are searching for a “top Indian wicketkeeper”, with Pant being one of the options.
It remains to be seen when Dhoni, IPL’s most-capped player, would call time on his IPL career although there is a high possibility of the Jharkhand cricketer not featuring in the 2025 edition.
Pant returned to competitive cricket in the IPL this year for the first time since suffering injuries during a car accident in December 2022. He scored 446 runs from 13 matches, including three fifties, this season. The Uttarakhand-born cricketer played eight matches as India’s No 3 batter in the 2024 T20 World Cup and finished with 171 runs.
Meanwhile, KL Rahul, another wicketkeeper-batter, could leave Lucknow Super Giants after three years with the franchise. LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka had reportedly slammed Rahul following his team’s 10-wicket loss to Sunrisers Hyderabad this season and there have been question marks on his place in the squad ever since.

RCB, led by Faf du Plessis, qualified for the IPL playoffs this season, but as per the report in Dainik Jagran, they are aiming to announce an India cricketer as captain, and should they acquire Rahul, the 32 year-old could eventually be named RCB skipper.
RCB took on Rajasthan Royals in the Eliminator this season but were knocked out of the IPL following a four-wicket loss to the Jaipur-based franchise.
