India wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant could leave Delhi Capitals ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction and reportedly join Chennai Super Kings (CSK). According to a Dainik Jagran report, DC are unhappy with Pant and the franchise is pondering on whether to retain him or not.

The 26 year-old could also be traded to another franchise, but DC’s Director of Cricket Sourav Ganguly wants Pant to remain as captain.

Pant could join five-time champions Chennai Super Kings if Delhi Capitals end up releasing him. As per a CSK official, the franchise are reportedly looking for a possible wicketkeeper replacement for MS Dhoni should he announce his retirement from the IPL. And they are searching for a “top Indian wicketkeeper”, with Pant being one of the options.

Pant returned to competitive cricket in the IPL this year for the first time since suffering injuries during a car accident in December 2022. He scored 446 runs from 13 matches, including three fifties, this season. The Uttarakhand-born cricketer played eight matches as India’s No 3 batter in the 2024 T20 World Cup and finished with 171 runs.

Meanwhile, KL Rahul, another wicketkeeper-batter, could leave Lucknow Super Giants after three years with the franchise. LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka had reportedly slammed Rahul following his team’s 10-wicket loss to Sunrisers Hyderabad this season and there have been question marks on his place in the squad ever since.
