Veteran India seamer Mohammed Shami was GT’s leading wicket-taker after the first season and remained the case after the second IPL as well. Shami joined GT after three seasons with the Punjab Kings. In IPL 2022 he set the mark with 20 wickets. The next season he pushed the envelope with 28 wickets to win the Purple Cap for most wickets in a season. From 33 matches, Shami has 48 wickets for GT with best figures of 4/11 and an economy of 8.01.

In IPL 2022, multiple teams breached the 200 run score but GT were not one of them despite winning the title. A year later, they entered the 200-run club five times.
