The Indian Premier League (IPL) Governing Council unveiled the final list of players for the upcoming mega auction for the 2025 edition that is set to take place in a week’s time. A total of 1,574 players had registered for the fifth mega auction in the history of the world’s biggest T20 league days after the 10 franchises had unveiled their list of retained players along with their remaining purse and Right To Match (RTM) Slots.

The league officials decided to shave off a vast majority of names from the original list, resulting in a shortened list comprising a little more than 500 players who will be going under the hammer in what will be the second consecutive IPL auction taking place outside India.

The IPL 2025 mega auction – the fifth mega auction in the league’s history – will be taking place on November 24 and 25 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The event will commence at 12.30 pm local time, which is 3 pm in India.

Marquee List 2: Yuzvendra Chahal, KL Rahul, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, Liam Livingstone (England), David Miller (South Africa).
There are a total of 81 players who have registered their name in the top base price category of Rs 2 crore, in which includes all marquee players except Miller (Rs 1.5 crore).
Some of the other top names in the Rs 2 crore bracket who are not part of the ‘Marquee’ list are India’s Ishan Kishan, Ravichandran Ashwin, Venkatesh Iyer, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Shardul Thakur.

There are also overseas stars such as South Africa’s Quinton de Kock and Aiden Markram, England’s Harry Brook and Jonny Bairstow, Australia’s Glenn Maxwell and David Warner who are part of this category but are not in the ‘Marquee’ list.

England’s James Anderson has decided to try his luck in the IPL after more than a decade, having previously gone unsold in 2011 and 2011, and the age of 42, is the oldest player in the auction. South Africa’s Faf du Plessis, who had led Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the last three seasons, is a close second at 40 years of age.
Uncapped batter Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who has made five First-Class appearances for Bihar and had recently struck a century for India U-19s in a Youth Test against the visiting Australians in Chennai, is the youngest player in the 2025 mega auction at the tender age of 13.
