The 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) mega auction is a big event and it will have Australia’s bowling coach Daniel Vettori in attendance as Sunrisers Hyderabad coach even though the Aussies will be engaged in the first Test in Perth against the Indian team at the same time. The IPL 2025 mega auction will take place on 24 and 25 November in Jeddah , Saudi Arabia, which means the event will clash with the Indian cricket team’s first Test match against Australia , which is scheduled to run between 22 to 26 November.
Vettori is conflicted right now, holding coaching positions with both the Australia team and IPL franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad, and will be leaving national team duty midway through the first Test to travel to Jeddah for the IPL auction.

SRH retained players: Heinrich Klaasen (Rs 23 crore), Pat Cummins (Rs 18 crore), Abhishek Sharma (Rs 14 crore), Travis Head (Rs 14 crore), Nitish Kumar Reddy (Rs 6 crore). “We are very supportive of Dan’s role as Head Coach of Sunrisers Hyderabad,” an Australia team source told ESPNcricinfo. “Dan will complete the final preparation for the first Test before attending the IPL auction. He will then be with the team for the remainder of the Border Gavaskar Trophy.”
Vettori is an exception in world cricket as he holds a full-time coaching role with a national team and also holds coaching positions in franchise cricket. He has been Australia’s bowling coach since 2022, SRH coach since August 2023 , and also coaches the Hundred side Birmingham Phoenix.
