Delhi Capitals on Friday added Aussie all-rounder Jake Fraser-McGurk to their IPL 2024 squad as a replacement for injured pacer Lungi Ngidi.

Many an Indian Premier League fans wanted Australian cricket prodigy Jake Fraser-McGurk to be part of IPL 2024 and the wish came true on Friday as Delhi Capitals announced that Aussie all-rounder will be joining them as replacement for pacer Lungi Ngidi . The South African fast bowler has been ruled out due to an injury. He is the second DC player to miss out on IPL 2024 after Harry Brook, who pulled out of the tournament due to personal reasons.

In many ways, Fraser-McGurk’s addition could prove to be a blessing in disguise for Delhi team who were a batter down after Brook’s pull out. Another factor that will boost DC’s chances is the fact that Fraser-McGurk is a big-hitting opener who can also bowl leg-spin. He will joining fellow Australians Ricky Ponting, David Warner, Mitchell Marsh and Jhye Richardson at DC.

Who is Fraser-McGurk?

The 21-year-old Australian has already played two ODIs for his country, scoring 51 runs at a whopping strike rate of 221.73. In his second ODI, Fraser-McGurk scored a quick-fire 41 off just 18 balls as Australia defeated West Indies by 8 wickets.

In October last year, Fraser-McGurk scored a List A hundred for South Australia in just 29 balls, breaking AB de Villiers’ record for the fastest century. In total he made 125 (38) against Tasmania and slammed 13 sixes on the day. The swashbuckling led to his international debut for Australia in February this year against West Indies.

Fraser-McGurk was also the highest run-scorer for Melbourne Renegades in Big Bash League this season, scoring 257 runs at 32.12 and with a strike rate of 158.64.
